

Jon Froehlich
Movement - BA International Performance Ensemble
Jon Froehlich is a professional actor, director, educator, and playwright. He has performed in Berlin, Arezzo, Essen, San Juan (Puerto Rico), and New York City, in such plays as Moliere's Scapin, Calderon's The Constant Prince, Gertrude Stein's Dr. Faustus Lights the Lights, Shakespeare's Comedy Of Errors, and multiple mountings of the homage to Jerzy Grotowski's Teatr Opole, Replikas (of Apocalypsis Cum Figuris).
Jon is a co founding member of the experimental physical theatre company, Cloud of Fools. With Cloud of Fools, Jon’s play, The Whistling Mortician (in which he also played the title role, and directed) received its world premiere in Theater I.A.T.I.’s 5th annual Performing Arts Marathon here in New York City. The company has since toured The Whistling Mortician to Concord, MA, and Baltimore, MD. To date Jon has performed in each of Cloud of Fools’ other productions: Europa (written and directed by Casey Robinson), and All That Dies And Rises (co-produced with M-34).
Jon is a frequent collaborator with Stolen Chair Theatre Company, acting in their three most recent productions: The Man Who Laughs (3 Drama Desk nominations); Potion; and Kill Me Like You Mean It.
Jon has also played roles in (selected): A Raisin in the Sun (The Arkansas Rep, dir. Rajendra Rahmoon Maharaj); Cho H Cho (Mabou Mines, dir. Daniel Irizarry); Paris Belongs to Us (Brick Theater, dir. Doris Mirescu); Toys In The Attic (Pearl Theatre Company, dir. Austin Pendleton); andWaiting for Godot (Chimera Theatre Company, dir. Deanna Downes).
Jon holds an MFA in Acting from Columbia University, where has also taught acting and movement.
