The Bachelor of Science in Chemical Biology is a novel, interdisciplinary, and applied “fast-tracked career” major that integrates the foundations (principles, theories) of chemistry, biology, and biochemistry. It provides you with sound theoretical, technical, and contextual grounding in the natural sciences as well as in the various sub-disciplines of chemistry and biology.
In contrast to the more classical biochemistry curriculum, chemical biology involves chemical principles, tools, probes, and methods that are applied to unraveling biology. Specifically, you will acquire the knowledge and expertise that far supersede current biochemistry, biology, or chemistry curricula alone.

A Premiere Health Sciences Discipline
Chemical biology is recognized as the most effective academic track to tackle challenges in health sciences and medicine; the use of small molecular probes; biotechnology and genetic engineering; microfluidics and in vivo system engineering; genomics and proteomics; advanced bio-material engineering; the integration of live systems of artificial intelligence, robotics, and mass data predictive analytics; the environment; and forensics.
Skills that Meet the Market
As a BS in Chemical Biology graduate, you may competitively engage in projects such as drug discovery; work toward method development, testing, and quality assurance and control in manufacturing, labs, and production facilities; as well as assist pharmacists, chemists, and engineers devise de novo efficient methods of testing and production into practice. The BS in Chemical Biology also prepares you for successful employment in sales and marketing, spanning myriad sectors relating to biological, chemical, and physical principles.
With a BS in Chemical Biology, you will become a versatile candidate for lucrative, secure careers in the biopharmaceutical and allied health research and development industries, government agencies, academia, independent research institutes, and professional organizations. If you wish to pursue post-graduate study, it provides a strong foundation to springboard into a doctoral program or professional school for pharmacy or medicine.
A Growing Labor Market
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, there is rapid job growth in STEM majors, especially for chemical biology, in pharmaceutical, healthcare, cosmetics, forensics, teaching, research and development, and manufacturing. Graduates of the BS in Chemical Biology are also competitive in entering medical, dental, physical therapy, and chiropractic schools, as well as PhD programs.
The annual salary for a BS in Chemical Biology graduate averages $60K nationwide and $65K in downstate New York according to ZipRecruiter. There are 3,000 pharma jobs available within the proximity of the Pace Pleasantville campus as per data from Regeneron and the US Bureau of National Employment Statistics.
State of the Art Labs and Faculty-Led Research
You will have an opportunity to utilize state-of-the art laboratories and work side-by-side with distinguished faculty conducting research that at other institutions is typically experienced at the post-graduate level, as well as co-publish and present your research at regional and national conferences.
Student Organizations, Societies, and Internships
The Student Honors Chemistry Club of the American Chemical Society, Tri-Beta Biological Society, and Sigma Xi provide you with academic, scholarly, and experiential learning peer support. Other opportunities include internship placements in local and national corporate research and development, government institutions, and summer training programs nationwide.
