This course will examine criminal prosecutions through a comparative lens, exploring different techniques, tools and approaches used in the two major categories of criminal prosecutions: white collar and violent crime. The course will focus mainly on Federal criminal prosecutions but we will also discuss techniques and approaches that are applicable in State prosecutions. In the white collar crime area, the course will focus on financial prosecutions as well as public corruption. In the violent crime area, we will focus on gang prosecutions as well as traditional organized crime, and sex trafficking cases.
