Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) borrowing is provided to members of the Haub Law community (faculty, students, and staff). If you need a book or journal article that is unavailable within the Pace University library system, we will attempt to borrow it from another library.

  • Interlibrary Loan services are only available to current Haub Law students in good standing, faculty, faculty emeritus, and staff.

  • Library materials, generally articles and monographs, needed for instruction and research may be requested through interlibrary loan. Haub Law affiliates may submit electronic requests through ILLiad for materials that are unavailable at any of the Pace University libraries. The library catalog and full-text databases should be checked first for any availability before placing an interlibrary loan request. If an item is checked out, you can contact Circulation to ask if it may be recalled.

The Pace Law Library will not place interlibrary loan requests for required casebooks and texts or study aids. The only exception would be if a required text is needed to complete sub and cite for an article being edited for publication in one of the law reviews. Please note that many libraries will not lend unique or valuable materials, audiovisual materials, reference or special collections, entire volumes of periodicals, and multi-volume sets. Some libraries may impose lending restrictions, such as requiring that the material be used only in the library. All requests are processed in the order they are received.

Note: Requests for photocopies/scans will only be processed if they comply with copyright law (U.S.C. Title 17).

  • ILL requests are submitted electronically via ILLiad. If you have not placed an ILL request before, please click on the link to register for an account first. You must use your Haub law email address when registering.

Before submitting a request, please search the Pace Law Library online catalog, in order to verify unavailability of your materials at the Law Library or at either Pace University library.

  • Pace Law Library does not charge for placing ILL requests. However, you are responsible for any charges levied by a lending library for lost or damaged materials. Your library privileges may be suspended, or student records may be withheld if any charges are unpaid.

  • It generally takes two to three weeks to obtain requested books from other libraries, so it is important to plan your research in advance. When articles or book chapters are requested, they are generally delivered as scans and may come within a few days. In some rare cases, articles are only delivered in print and will take more time.

  • You can check the status of your request through ILLiad. Click on “Outstanding Requests” to track your requests that have not been fulfilled. Click on “Checked Out Items” to see all the ILL materials checked out to you. Click on History Requests” to see a list of all your completed ILL requests.

  • You will receive an email message notifying you when materials arrive. Students can pick up books at the Circulation Desk during regular library hours. Books for faculty will be delivered to their faculty mailbox. Photocopies will be delivered electronically to your Law School email address.

  • Pace Law Library will accept Interlibrary Loan requests from any library including, but not limited to, academic, public, corporate, institutional, and law firm libraries. Requests may be made via OCLC or email. Material will be loaned for a period of four weeks, with one two-week renewal on eligible items.
