Elisabeth Haub School of Law Professor Bennett Gershman speaks to Salon.com about New York Supreme Court Justice Judge Juan Merchan showing "evident exasperation and scorn" as he scolded Trump's legal team over "misleading" claims.

"Judge Merchan showed yesterday that he is going to administer the trial firmly and fairly and is not going to permit Trump and his lawyers to distract, mislead, or play games," Gershman, a Pace University law professor, told Salon, adding that the judge was "openly impatient and intolerant at the way Trump’s legal team was litigating this case."

Professor and Judge Margaret M. deGuzman delivered the 2024 Blaine Sloan Lecture on International Law on Wednesday, March 20, speaking on "The Promise and Perils of International Criminal Law.” The Blaine Sloan Lecture on International Law honors F. Blaine Sloan for developing the international law studies program at Pace. The Honorable Margaret M. deGuzman is James E. Beasley Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Institute for International Law and Public Policy at Temple Law School. She is also a judge of the Residual Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals, where she currently serves on the Trial Chamber for The Prosecutor v. Félicien Kabuga.

More than 240 alumni, faculty, students, elected officials and members of the judiciary, and distinguished lawyers attended the celebration, raising vital funds in support of student scholarships, faculty research, and innovative programs.
