W. Paul Alvarez’s ’16 passion for immigration law is rooted in his own immigration story. Paul was born in Ecuador and later became a naturalized citizen of the United States.
Three 2024 Haub Law graduates have been accepted into the prestigious Georgetown Law Tax LLM program. After developing a passion for tax during their studies at Haub Law, recent graduates Gilbert Romero, Abby Miscioscia, and Shelly Aucay decided to apply to the nationally ranked Georgetown Law Tax LLM program to take the next step in their education to pursue a career in tax law. With the strong foundation provided by their education at Haub Law, all three students will pursue the Tax LLM degree starting this fall.
The Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University is pleased to announce that Gabriel Pell and Fernando Mendoza Lopez have joined its faculty as Visiting Assistant Professors of Law. Professor Pell is a former prosecutor who comes to Haub Law after having taught for several years at New York Law School. Professor Mendoza Lopez recently received his JD and PhD from Vanderbilt Law School, and previously served as Director of Economic Studies in the Mexican federal government.
The Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University is pleased to announce that Janene Marasciullo, an experienced trial attorney and a veteran of FINRA and the Department of Justice, will join the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University as the Director of its Fairbridge Investor Rights Clinic and an adjunct professor. In 2021, Haub Law received a generous five-year grant to name its Investor Rights Clinic (formerly the Securities Arbitration Clinic) after Fairbridge Asset Management.

In March 2024, I traveled to Vienna, Austria for the first time to represent Haub Law on the “Verein,” known more formally as the “Association for the Organization and Promotion of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot.” The Vis Moot is the world’s largest international commercial arbitration student competition, with teams from hundreds of law schools and countries around the world.
At a time when unprecedented marine heat waves warm 40 percent of the oceans, and much life at sea is endangered, the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University is proud to recognize two distinguished women for their leadership negotiating the world’s first legal agreement to safeguard marine biodiversity.
Despite beginning law school elsewhere, transfer student Joseph Martinez always felt that Haub Law was where he belonged. “Haub Law, for me, was always the goal,” said Joseph.
A single mom with two children, Haub Law student Samantha Mariano describes her path to law school as “unconventional at best.” Following her decision to leave an abusive situation, Samantha was referred to Connecticut Legal Services through a local domestic violence organization.
